The Impact

Over
$.00
raised in 2018 alone.

“A key factor to the growth of our community is a strong education system. This is the only fundraiser for our club and 100 percent of the money raised will be used to benefit educational needs throughout Catawba County,” said Sandi Fotheringham. “Our goal is to exceed the $70,000 raised last year through sponsorships, advertisements in the show program, and ticket sales.”

About Rotarian Idol

How we help

The Thursday Rotary Club of Hickory has announced dates for its musical fundraiser, “ROTARIAN IDOL”. The event will be held Sunday, May 3rd, at 7:00 pm in PE Monroe Auditorium on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University. Tickets are $20 and students 12 and under are free with a paying adult. Tickets can be purchased at the Hickory Community Theatre, Office Furniture USA in Viewmont, or from any member of the Hickory Rotary Club.

Our history

Since 2010, the Idol event has raised and distributed over $400,000 for educational needs throughout Catawba County including, scholarships for deserving students, Teacher of the Year awards, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library which is distributed by the Catawba County Partnership for Children, and other community-based educational programs.

Ticket Sales Locations Announced

Tickets for this year’s event are $20. One child, 12 and under, admitted with each paying adult. Each ticket includes a coupon for a free oil change and filter at Mike Johnson’s Hickory Toyota. Tickets may be purchased from any Hickory Rotary Club member or at three convenient locations.

About us

Founded in 1921, the Hickory Rotary Club is Catawba County’s first and most widely recognized service organization. We take great pride in our club’s rich history of giving back to the community that has given so much to every one of us. In adherence to Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self,” our club’s primary service avenue is education. Over the years, we have done a great deal to reward and recognize our teachers, provide college scholarships for deserving high school graduates, as well as to participate in a tutoring program at Southwest Elementary. In addition, we engage in a number of other service projects that benefit our citizens in need, such as Salvation Army bell ringing, the providing of meals and gifts at Christmas, Red Cross blood drives just to name a few.

Our mission

Rotary is an international organization, and we are one of over 34,000 community based clubs throughout the world that include over 1.2 million members. Our club has supported Rotary International in its efforts to fund service projects around the world, which are made possible by the Rotary Foundation. Rotary International has also been instrumental in the effort to eradicate polio and is the largest volunteer and private organization to contribute toward this cause. To date, Rotary International has contributed over $900 million toward the eradication of polio, and along with the Gates Foundation, we have nearly succeeded in wiping this dreaded disease from the face of the earth.
